King Arthur's Round Table Discovered in Chester

Researchers exploring the legend of Britain’s most famous Knight believe his stronghold of Camelot was built on the site of a recently discovered Roman amphitheatre in Chester.

Legend has it that his Knights would gather before battle at a round table where they would receive instructions from their King.

But rather than it being a piece of furniture, historians believe it would have been a vast wood and stone structure which would have allowed more than 1,000 of his followers to gather.

Historians believe regional noblemen would have sat in the front row of a circular meeting place, with lower ranked subjects on stone benches grouped around the outside.

They claim rather than Camelot being a purpose built castle, it would have been housed in a structure already built and left over by the Romans.

Camelot historian Chris Gidlow said: “The first accounts of the Round Table show that it was nothing like a dining table but was a venue for upwards of 1,000 people at a time.

“We know that one of Arthur’s two main battles was fought at a town referred to as the City of Legions. There were only two places with this title. One was St Albans but the location of the other has remained a mystery.”

The recent discovery of an amphitheatre with an execution stone and wooden memorial to Christian martyrs, has led researchers to conclude that the other location is Chester.

Mr Gidlow said: “In the 6th Century, a monk named Gildas, who wrote the earliest account of Arthur’s life, referred to both the City of Legions and to a martyr’s shrine within it. That is the clincher. The discovery of the shrine within the amphitheatre means that Chester was the site of Arthur’s court and his legendary Round Table.”

Noel and Lisa Jones Noel and Lisa Jones

We are launching a new exciting worship ministry headed up by Noel and Lisa Jones. On the first Sunday of each month Noel and Lisa will head up a worship meeting with a focus on the ministry of the Holy Spirit at the Springfield Hotel on the A55 near HolyWell.

Noel and Lisa have long had a vision to see a place established in north Wales which has worship at it's heart.

Some core values of the meetings will be:

Relationship 'a place to passionately pursue intimacy with God (and to hear His voice)'

Re-digging wells 'a place which draws on prophetic worship, warring intercession and prayer'

Restoration 'a place where the river of God’s healing and deliverance flows'

The venture is to launch with two anointed worship leaders over two consecutive weekends: Kevin Prosch on Sunday 29th August and Jonthan Helser on Sunday 5th September.

MorningStar European Roundtable Conference PDF Print E-mail

We were honoured to host this strategic event in Chester, England, bringing together prophetic intecessors from both Europe and America.

It was remarkable that the airspace crisis caused by the Icelandic volcano over the UK and Europe coincided perfectly with the MorningStar European Roundtable. However, undeterred, all 10 of our US guests arrived in time for the conference. Jim McLaughlin and Tom Hardiman facilitated the daytime sessions and spoke in the evening meetings.

The Roundtable it's self was rich with revelation and strategy. There was a strong sense of God's timing in the gathering and it's significance relationally - both for our American honourariums and our local networks. The Roundtable conference heralded a strengthening of both of the prophetic and intercession that will certainly develop and endure.

GloryFires have launched 'Spirit' in Chester city centre, an exciting new retail venture selling Christian resources, home decor and fresh coffee. Within site of the town hall square the new shop holds a prominent position on the Northgate Street - within the famous city walls.

The vision for the shop is to provide a retail outlet for Christian literature, music and teaching resources and at the same time provide an environment for ministry and fellowship. With the demise of retail entertainment (books, music, DVD's) outlets on the high street - primarily due to the increase of internet shopping - 'Spirit' is complementing it's Christian resources with a range of exciting home decor around the theme of 'vintage cottage' or 'shabby chic'. This enhances the shopping experience and creates a great ambience when combined with anointed music and the smell of fresh coffee!

Initial trading is promising with a successful first week over Easter exceeding all financial targets and at the same time seeing people receiving salvation and healing. We are excited to see what God will do with 'Spirit' and use it powerfully to equip the saints and touch the lives of many people with the love and power of God.
