At the School of the Spirit our guiding values are Permission, Practise and Presence:

Permission: 'a safe place where it's okay to make mistakes'
Practise: 'a place to try something new'
Presence: 'a place to draw near to God and learn together'

- to make a place where each one may learn freely from the Holy Spirit.

vision

God has given us a vision for an empowered church in Chester. We see a vibrant, unashamed church that is dedicated to 'taking hold of that for which Christ took hold of us'. (Philippians 3.12)

We see the 'School of the Spirit' as a crucial resource for the Chester church with a remit to equip the saints (the priesthood of all believers - 1 Peter 2.9) to:

We endeavour to fulfill this purpose by:

  • preparing a place where revival fires can be ignited and spread across the whole of the area.
  • encouraging Christians (of all denominations) to understand their spiritual authority in Christ and what Christ has made available for us in the supernatural
  • encouraging and teaching Christians to use the gifts of the spirit (particularly the ‘power gifts’) in their daily lives.
  • encouraging each other into creative corporate worship, with contributions from the congregation.
  • making a place for the glory of the Lord to rest, for the Lord to manifest His presence, to wait on Him and be open to the Holy Spirit.
  • contending for the fullness of Christ, and all that it entails.
  • equipping the saints for the works of the ministry
  • pursuing and seeking the Lord with all our hearts
  • understanding what the Kingdom of God is and to live it.
  • helping prepare the bride of Christ for the return of her King.
  • preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God and demonstrate His power
  • being passionate about Jesus
The 'School of the Spirit' is not a church but when we gather together we are part of the church.

It is an honour and blessing to join together with Christians from all denominations to pursue Jesus with all our hearts.

Support

The School of the Spirit is a ministry in its infancy. Our financial commitments are few and modest - rental of the meeting hall, PA equipment, teaching materials etc.

We are expecting School of the Spirit to grow and become established as a more permanent ministry in our city. We have a vision for conferences, a Christian Resource centre and even a School of Ministry. If you are catching the School of the Spirit vision and you would like to support us you can:

  • come and join with us at our meetings

Prayer

We believe that God has a special plan and a purpose for Chester and the surrounding district. We also belive that God has chosen in his wisdom to bring about those purposes by the church rising up and contending for the whole fulness of God and all that He has made available to us in Christ Jesus.

The School of the Spirit is a resource that endeavours to equip the local Christian community to be such a church.

"Father God, we bless you and thank you that you have given us everything we need to lead loving, empowered, overcoming lives. Raise up your church, here in our city, like a mighty servant army who are willing to forsake the counterfeit attractions of the world for a life of Kingdom purpose and destiny."

"I pray that you would deliver Chester from the snares and traps of worldly values by raising up a church that is willing to fight for the truth and purity of your Gospel. Let restoration flow in through the Northgate, let refreshing revival flood in through the watergate, let restoration and redemption flow under the Bridgegate and let healing and wholeness flow in through the Eastgate. Let the people of our city know that you have a plan to prosper them and not to harm; that your intentions are for good and not for evil."
